Caranto is the miracle stuff. Bentonite clay is easily a few million years old. Unlike other clays, it's volcanic ash. Washed into the lagoon from the Alps over thousands of years and then mixed with seawater, algae, salt and sludge. The mixture of grey clay from the mountains and the yellow clay from the Adriatic Sea makes the Caranto unique. HOWEVER, our Caranto does not come directly from the lagoon. We rebuild it. The main ingredient, the grey bentonite, comes from Slovenia, not far from the sources of the river Sile, which then flows into the lagoon. The yellow kaolin comes from France because it is the purest there. But it is the combination that gives the best possible effect.
